Schwinn Airdyne AD6 Exercise Bike

Pros Of The Schwinn Airdyne AD6
  • It is one of the 5 best exerise bikes for home use, undoubtedly. It is a very compact design. The cycle fits nicely out of the way in the corner of your room.
  • It has a big fan, thus giving that extra sensation of real riding with the wind all around you, superb.
  • Takes under an hour to assemble.
  • The cycle has infinite wind resistance (the harder you pedal, the more resistance there is).
  • When you compare it to other exercise bikes, the fan is pretty quiet.
  • The onboard fan blows cold air, so it makes you feel a lot more comfortable.
  • Has six automatic program workout metrics to try.
  • The bike has a convenient water bottle holder.
  • Has 4 “feet” for that extra stability
  • The exercise bike feels very sturdy.
  • It is on wheels for storage.
  • It is easy to set up and “ride.”
  • The fitness equipment has a superb warranty of 15 years on the frame — also, two years on all electronics, three years on parts, six months of labor.
  • Dual motion (Works arms and legs)
  • The exercise bike has a 300 pounds weight capacity.
  • Although, there is extra padding on the seat to avoid the horrible saddle-sore.
  • There are straps on the self-balancing peddles for total motion control.
  • RPM gauge (How many times the pedals will turn in a minute). That is perfect for HIIT (High-intensity interval training).
Cons Of The Schwinn Airdyne AD6
  • However, it is quite hard to move around on a floor that has a carpet.
  • The LCD console/Panel is not backlit.
  • The apparatus has a 300 lbs (pounds) weight limit. Which may or may not be right?
  • Reports mention that it is not suitable for anyone under 5 feet 4 inches.
  • If you want to use the heart rate monitor you need the strap, it is available separately.
  • Batteries for the actual computer on the spinner are not in with the kit.

  • Distance
  • Speed

  • Can take user weight of 300 pounds
  • Ideal for users with height 5’2” to 6’2”
  • Heart pulse sensors and computer monitoring
  • Emergency brake

  • Although it is excellent, some will say the seat is hard. You can solve that with some foamy seat covers.
However, the more you pay, then, the more features one of these 5 best exercise bikes in 2019 will include. Because it is unlikely that you will have any of the following things on a less expensive bike.

  • More pre-set programs
  • A more massive flywheel for the smoother riding experience
  • Pulse monitors or a heart rate chest strap
  • The maximum user weight. That can GENERALLY be s sign of the build quality of the bike. The higher it is, tends to mean the better it is. Again, GENERALLY.

Now, that may seem like “What’s the fuss about, there aren’t that many more features on best exercise bikes for home use, so why bother?”

  • It’s pretty small at 55.5”x25”x37.5” (WxHxD) and weighs a just 66 lbs or 30 kgs

  1. This was a great writeup and review of the 5 best exercise bikes for 2019! I had to take my time looking through these as you went into a lot of detail with each and that had to be digested! I looked carefully at the pros, then looked at the cons, with particular attention on factors which might rule one or more of the 5 out for me.

Of the 5, the two that are closest to what would work for me happen to be the top two. The first, the Schwinn Airdyne AD6 Exercise Bike is the BEST fit for me. I do not care about sticking away somewhere, I want people to see that beauty!

The other that is of interest is the Exerpeutic 900 XL Spinner. I like the way it appears to provide a comfortable riding position and likely would be a bit easier on the back. That is important for me as I have had some problems in the past and had to lighten the exercise regimen.

On both of these, there are a lot of positives and the cons are not that serious for me. I now have a good idea of what to buy, and I will check out each and decide on one or the other. Which one of these two selections would you go with?

    1. Hi Dave, my friend. Firstly, please allow me to thank you for such a lengthy and amazing comment. Of the two that you mention, personally, I would opt for the recumbent one. The Exerpeutic 900 xl. Because, if you are suffering from a bad back at times, then it will for sure be easier on it.

After all, my guess is that that is why they make recumbent exercise bikes. I do not believe it is meant only for the lazy lol.

Another plus of the 800 xl, well, it would have to be its price. Indeed, it is very reasonable.

  2. This is an extensive load of information on the 5 best exercise bikes which needs to be filtered to make the right decision on it. I was wondering about one thing. Since I am traveling a lot, I don’t have the chance to select my ideal fitness equipment, I need to use what is present in the hotel.

When I purchased my running shoes the shop assistant was very educated to educate me how shoes can have different footbeds. This comes from the nature that all our feet develop in our life different. It made a big impact on the experience of running having the shoe with the right footbed.

I have the feeling that using exercise bikes should have adjustable stripes to fix my legs (shows) and pedals which could adjust. But somehow I miss this feature on most of them.

    1. Yes, it is an “Extensive load of information” Dieter. It is both good and bad that you travel a lot. As in using one of the 5 best exercise bikes, you will need to use it consistently. Maybe you can use a nearby gym to the hotel. And if the hotel has a gym, you could always do a session there. Of course, that is if you are not too tired.

AND YES, YOU WILL FIND THAT ALL OF THE EXERCISE BIKES WILL HAVE ADJUSTABLE FOOTSTRAPS THESE DAYS MATE. So you will need to worry about finding one that your feet fit no longer.

  3. Thanks for sharing Simon. I just tried clicking one of those exercise bikes, it led to Amazon US website. But, I won’t be able to make use of it. If possible try using Amazon Geo Targeting links, so that your visitors will be able to make purchases in relevant Amazon store.

      1. Yes, that’s necessary Simon. You need to be a member of that particular Amazon countries associates. I don’t find it a time-consuming task to sign up in all those associate websites of Amazon, and it’s just a one time task.

  4. Thank you so much for this information. I will certainly take all this into consideration before purchasing one. Which I hope to do in the future. I am just learning about these machines and have an old one on my deck. My sister gave it to me only her dog chewed up one of the foot pedals and that makes it a bit of a pain to use. Thank you for this information. I am wondering if there is a better choice for someone with a bad back?

    1. Thank you for your kind comment, Susan. I have tried to give as much information as is possible. Hopefully, that will help the customer choose the best exercise bikes more wisely. If they read the pros and cons in their preparation, then they should avoid any disappointment further on down the line.

As for using one with a bad back, may I suggest that you use a recumbent bike? Because with you being in a position of seating, you will spread the weight around the body. Therefore there is less pressure on your back. I mean, think of when they are saying “Take the weight of your feet.” Yes, a recumbent exercise bike is a way forward!
