How many calories in a glass of wine? It is an excellent question, as most people have no idea how many calories they are consuming. Well in this post I am going to write in the numbers so that you can factor it into your diet.
You may not even be on a diet, but would rather know out of curiosity or for health reasons?
Very generally speaking. White wine has slightly fewer calories, but please go here to check out exactly how many calories your type of wine contains. Click start search and enter red wine and white wine separately.
Both wines are fattening, and this is because there is sugar contained in it and we should know by now that sugar is not suitable for us or our waistline/diet. That occurs even though there is zero fat in the actual wine. As I have said just it is the calories in the sugar it presents.
A massive 175 ml glass of red wine contains around 120 calories depending on what wine it is that you are consuming, but this is the average amount. So, in essence, you could be forgiven for thinking that you are opting for the healthy option, but a calorie is still a calorie. Do you not agree?
Too much/many WILL add to your waistline. There are more calories in higher alcohol % wine so the lower, the better for your weight. So in all honesty, if you are on this page you need to lose weight, gain health.
A standard 175 ml glass of the alcoholic drink that is white wine is around 1.7 to 2.1 units dependant on the volume of the wine. And so you need to look at the chart below and try to figure out how much you drink and how much you should drink. Adjust if required to suit your diet.
A SMALL GLASS OF RED WINE CONTAINS 1.4 UNITS (OF 11% wine) 125 ml
A SMALL GLASS OF WHITE WINE CONTAINS 1.8 UNITS (OF 14% wine) 125 ml
A MEDIUM GLASS OF RED WINE CONTAINS 1.9 UNITS (OF 11% wine) 175 ml
A MEDIUM GLASS OF WHITE WINE CONTAINS 2.4 UNITS (OF 14% wine) 175 ml
A LARGE GLASS OF RED WINE CONTAINS 2.8 UNITS (OF 11% wine) 250 ml
A LARGE GLASS OF WHITE WINE CONTAINS 3.5 UNITS (OF 14% wine) 250 ml
A BOTTLE OF SIZE 750 ML/75 CL of WHITE WINE IS 8.2 UNITS (OF 11% wine)
A BOTTLE OF SIZE 750 ML/ 75 CL OF RED WINE IS 10.5 UNITS (OF 14% wine)
The number of units is very dependent on the volume of alcohol it contains. That goes for any alcoholic beverage no matter what it is!
I would highly recommend that if you have partaken in a big/heavy drinking session, then alcohol is best avoided for at least 48 hours. Also please either make a mental note of this next fact.
Note All Of This Down Or Refer To It Later
Or better yet still write it down. Also, I do not recommend that any male drinks more than 3 OR 4 UNITS PER DAY and for a woman NO MORE than 2-3 UNITS PER DAY. That is the best advice you will get so. Please take heed of it. But please keep remembering that this is not at all ideal for a weight loss diet.

Most diets do recommend that you avoid alcohol at least for the first part of the “diet.” The sweeter the beverage, the more likely it is to have added sugars which do cause the blood sugar to be erratic = Weight gain.
So, how many calories in a glass of wine needs to be considered seriously before drinking, unless in moderation. Although most of us when alcohol is in the social environment that that tends to lead to over-indulgence.
You see, once you have got your diet under control all that you need to have is the other half of the equation for your weight loss attempt to be a success. To what am I referring? Exercise of course. Check out the reviews at the top of this page and also check out the “equipment and aids” Located under the equipment tab, I am sure you will find something suitable for your budget, and more importantly, you.
