    Some great educational material on how to lose weight and you are definitely correct about first getting your diet right and then getting into a proper exercise regime. One without the other won’t achieve any worthwhile results in regard to sustainable weight loss. All that normally happens with that is that weight lost is quickly regained.

      That is exactly right James. They both work side by side as you said mate. If you do not address the dietary issue then, again you are correct as exercise alone will only produce modest results by itself!

    Hi Simon – really interesting article and, as you say, one that really does resonate with pretty well everyone these days. I owned and run a gym for many years and we heard this question so many times. What do you think is the most important component for quick weight loss?

    Is it diet or exercise? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts because this was an area I was always a little unsure about. Thanks.

      Well, in answer to your question, they are equally as important in my honest opinion. Some people go with the 70% diet, 30% exercise, but I do not really subscribe to this point of view. Speaking from personal experience, I found that although a good diet is tremendously important, it really doesn’t do a great deal without being combined with a lot of exercises.

      As this is how you burn calories. A diet only reduces your calorific intake but, you need to get rid of the ones that have already accumulated. So I honestly say 50/50. And that is from my own experience.

    I used to be a fitness instructor in the army. Weight loss is one of the toughest battles to fight to be sure. I have found it’s not always about numbers and becoming a slave to the scale. This is a good guideline to start with. Thanks for this.

I do believe that you must have them ready and in motion, to set yourself up for what will be tough times to come made that much easier by doing this!
